Thomas Eugene Nix passed away October 1, 2021, at his home. Tom was born September 26, 1951, to Melbourne Andrew Nix, Sr and Virginia Berry Nix in Pittsburg, Texas. Tom grew up in Crossett, Arkansas and graduated from Crossett High School in 1969. Mr. Nix was a member of Church of the Redeemer in Hamburg, AR. He attended both Henderson State University and University of Arkansas at Monticello graduating with a BS in Education. Tom began working for Georgia Pacific Corporation in 1973 on the Wood Products side of the company, later transitioning to the Paper Division. He worked for Georgia Pacific thirty-three years in various locations and positions. Tom was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Mr. Nix is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Melbourne Andrew (Drew) Nix, Jr.; his mother and father-in law, Mildred and Bob Pilgram; and a very special friend and brother-in-law, Robert R. Pilgram.
Tom is survived by his wife, Jane; two children, Cassa Nix Bilbo (Jeff) and Thomas Michael Nix (Melissa); five grandsons, Jacob Nix, Tyler Nix, Robert Nix, Nick Bilbo, and Jack Bilbo, and three great grandsons, Alex and Thomas Nix and Avery Bilbo. Tom is also survived by nieces, Bo Pilgram, Brit Singleton, Dr. Robin Kirby, Pam Pilgram-Smith, and Susan Nix. Also survived by nephews Rob Nix and Jeff Nix.
A celebration of life service will be held Monday, October 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Church of the Redeemer with Pastor Bob Whiteley officiating. Interment will be in Pinewood Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is October 3, 2021, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Ronnie Hopper, Bill Akin, Phil Wright, Willie Washington, John Johnson, and Randy Warren. Honorary Pallbearers are Mr. Nix’s grandsons.
