Sandra Ann Brooks

Sandra Ann Brooks, age 79 of Crossett, AR, passed away on April 6, 2023.  She was born on July 25th, 1943.  She was the daughter of John and Myrtle Walker Martin.

She married her husband of 61 years, Richard “Bob” Brooks, Jr. in November of 1961.  They lived in Crossett all their Married life. 

Sandra loved her family.  Her greatest joy was serving God and her family.  We were truly blessed to have this wonderful lady looking after us.

She was a member of South Main Baptist Church and loved her church family.  The relationships developed over the years were a part of the many blessings in her life.  She looked forward to serving her church family as she worked in the Children’s Ministry for many, many years.  Another part of her church service was helping to lead the Social Committee for many years, enjoying those potluck dinners.  Her favorite community volunteering project was working in the Gift Shop as an Auxiliary Member at the Ashley County Medical Center. 

To Sandra’s school friends, church family and other loved ones, “Thank you for your gift of love and support throughout her lifetime.”

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Marie Smith, Mae Paschall, Nikki Marshal , Mary Francis Heckford and Buddy Minchew

She is survived by her husband, Richard “Bob” Brooks, Jr.; one daughter, Shelley Carter (Cary) ,all of Crossett, AR. and one grandson, Brett Carter of Irving, TX.  Other survivors include her brother in law, Dr. Jack Brooks (Tommie Jean) of Arlington, TX; One sister, Markie Cluff of CA; One sister in law, Sharon Kaye Gates of Crossett, AR along with a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on April 10, 2023 at Jones Funeral Home with Bro. Roy Grantham officiating.  Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 9th at the funeral home.  Interment will be privately on a later date due to the weather conditions affecting the cemetery.
