Robert Lester Vandiver, III, age 80 and resident of Crossett, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2022. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to his parents, Robert Lester Vandiver, II and Lola Moses Vandiver on December 12, 1941.
He was a member and trustee of First United Methodist Church and volunteered at the local food pantry for many years. He worked for over 45 years at Georgia Pacific as plant manager, serving as a consultant in the last few of those years.
Bob had a heart of gold and loved making his family laugh. He enjoyed his work and volunteering but more importantly his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who he was so proud of and became his purpose in life.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Robert Haydon.
He is survived by two sons, Robert Vandiver, IV of Marietta, GA and William Vandiver (Lisa) of Crossett, AR; six grandchildren, Lindsay Vandiver (Trever Devine) of Peachtree Corners, GA, Lauren Vandiver of Acworth, GA, Robert Vandiver, V of Kennesaw, GA, Madelyne Cockerham of Crossett, AR, Leah Hagood (Donald) of Crossett, AR and William Vandiver of Crossett, AR; two great grandchildren, Andi Cockerham and Everett Hagood; three sisters, Carol Haydon of Little Rock, AR, Linda Owens (Dwight) of Indianapolis, IN and Susan Young of Little Rock, AR along with a host of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 1:00PM on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at First United Methodist Church in Crossett, AR with Rev. Matt Daniels officiating. Interment is in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Friday, February 25th at Jones Funeral Home.
