Raymond Brown Obituary

Raymond Sheiron Brown, age 89 of Crossett, Arkansas, passed away on July 21, 2020.  He was born on September 29, 1930 in Portland, AR.  He lived in Fountain Hill as a child but moved to North Crossett when he was discharged from the military in 1954.  He worked construction for several years and was then hired at Crossett Paper Mill where he worked for 38 years.  He retired in 1993.  He and Nadine ran Brown’s Nursery, Florist and Bridal Shop from their home for many years and he landscaped many businesses in Hamburg and Crossett.
Raymond was a deacon and Sunday School teacher at Mt. Olive Baptist Church.  After retiring, he joined the Nailbenders of Arkansas and traveled across the state helping build churches.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Alaska for 18 months during the Korean Conflict.  Raymond never met a stranger and loved to talk to people about themselves and loved to talk about the Lord. 
 
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Gertrude Dingler Brown and two brothers, Ernest and John Earl Brown.
 
He is survived by his wife of  66 1/2 years, Nadine Barnett Brown; one son, Ray Brown and wife, Angela of Mountain View, AR; one daughter, Jacci Brockwell and husband, Glenn of Crossett, AR; three grandchildren, Christopher Brown and wife, Magen of Alma, AR, Nicholas Brockwell and wife, Tara and Jonathan Brockwell and wife, Sarah of Crossett, AR; seven great grandchildren, Kinlee and Konner Brown, Brandon, Ben and Balyn Brockwell and Caitlyn and Ava Brockwell, all of Crossett, AR; two sisters, Helen Foreman of Dayton, TX and Janie Jones of Waxahachie, Tx; brother-in-law, Royce Barnett of Crossett, AR along with nineteen nieces and nephews.
 
A graveside service will be held at 9:00AM on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Pinewood Memorial Park with Bro. Eric Hodge officiating.  Pallbearers are his grandsons and great grandsons.  Visitation will follow the service at the cemetery.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1533 State Hwy. 52, Crossett, AR 71635.
