James Crawford Stinson

James Crawford Stinson, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock surrounded by his family.  He was born in the Cooter Community on Friday, December 24, 1928 to the late Jim and Gustavia Crawford Stinson.  James was a member of Jarvis Chapel Baptist Church.  He was a United States Navy Veteran, based out of San Diego, CA.  He also served in Japan and China.

 

He was a life underwriter for Life & Casualty and American General Insurance Companies before retiring in July 1988 after 28 years.  He was a member of The National Life Underwriters Association.  He was also a member of his company’s App-A-Week Club, having written at least one app a week for 9 years and 17 weeks.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 68 years, Willene Barnett Stinson; daughter, Wanda McHan; granddaughter, Tammy (Sissy)Renee Hopkins; brother, Ray Stinson and sister, Kathleen White.

 

He is survived by his daughter, Claudia Horton (Ray) of Monticello, AR and son, Wayland Stinson (Margaret) of Crossett, AR; five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

 

Funeral services are 2:00PM on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Jones Funeral Home, Inc. with Bro. Mike Griffith, Johnny Bolin and Bro. Lloyd Gibbs officiating.  Committal will follow at Unity Cemetery in Crossett.  Pallbearers are Wayland Stinson, Jeremy Cutrell, Justin Cutrell, Gaudencio Arce, Connor Horton and Haven Lawrence.  

Visitation is from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Friday, August 7, 2020 at Jones Funeral Home.
