James Phillips, Sr. Obituary

James (Jim) Eulos Phillips, Sr., age 83, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2020 after battling a long term illness.  Jim was born on September 11, 1936 to Oscar and Jewel Phillips in Crossett, Arkansas.  He graduated from Crossett High School in 1955 when he enlisted in the US Navy, serving his country for four years, until 1960.  While stationed in Newport, RI, he met Andrea Easson, the love of his life.  They were married on August 4, 1957.  Upon his discharge, Jim and Andie returned to Crossett where they raised their seven children.

Jim loved his family, nieces and nephews and kids in general, no matter who they belonged to.  We all have our favorite Daddy, Uncle Jimmy and Papaw stories.  Jim loved to crappie fish, hunt and was a big Arkansas Razorback fan.  He retired from Georgia Pacific after 41 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Jewel Jones Phillips; his sister, Audrey Pryor; his son, Robert (Bobby) Phillips; his grandson, Thomas Adam McCay and son-in-law, Gary Riles.

Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Andrea (Andie) Easson Phillips; six children, James E. Phillips, Jr. (Lila), Janet Riles, Cindy Griffis (Bob), Karen Phillips, Patty Cobb (Chris) and Peggy Studer (Marty); ten grandchildren, Kelly Griffis Ham (Chris), Jessica Phillips Robinett (Josh), Jennifer Griffis, Chris Phillips, Robert Paul Phillips, Jordan Phillips, Andrea Studer, James Michael Riles, Joe Studer and Jack Cobb; four great-grandchildren, Brice Phillips, Ava Robinett, Corbin Ham and Camryn Ham.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at First Baptist Church with Bro. Jamie Stahley officiating.  Interment is in Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Jones Funeral Home, Inc.  Pallbearers are Jack Cobb, Chris Ham, James M. Riles, Robert Paul Phillips, Chris Phillips and Corbin Ham.  Honorary Pallbearers are Brice Phillips, Jordan Phillips, Josh Robinett and Joe Studer.
