Inez Maxine Gates lived a long and beautiful life up until her passing at age 100 on February 14, 2022. She was born on November 19, 1921 to Ezra and Edna Cook in Bonita, Louisiana. She was a charter member of First Church of God in Crossett, Arkansas. She retired from Chase Bag Company and loved to travel around the United States, often visiting her home located in the upper peninsula of Mass City, Michigan. She was a very caring person who loved God, her church and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Gates; her parents, Ezra and Edna Earl Herrington Cook; five brothers, Pelza, Horace, Ray, Glenn and Marion Cook and one sister, Virginia Wells.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Herman Wayne Gates (Donnie) of Hamburg, AR; one daughter, Phyllis Raye Gates of Crossett, AR; four grandchildren, Dayna Faulkenberry (Mike), Craig Allen Clark (Cindy), Anna Riles (Rodney) and Carla Trussell; four great grandchildren, Brittany Poole, Clayton Douglas, Ashley Poole and Megan Douglas; two great-great grandchildren, Annalisa Davis and Jeffrey Davis along with a host of friends.
Graveside services are 9:30AM on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Unity Cemetery in Crossett, AR with Rev. Mike Neal officiating. Pallbearers are Todd Wisecarver, Tommy Sturgeon, Danny Smith, Jimmy Cook, Larry Linder and Henry Ray Sowyers. A time of visitation will follow.
