E Thelbirt Akin Obituary

E. Thelbirt Akin, age 78, passed away on January 28, 2022. He was born on January 11, 1944 in Hamburg, Arkansas to Luther Clemens “Jim” Akin and Vera Beatrice Evans Akin.

He was a member of Freewill Baptist Church and a 32nd Degree Master Mason of both the Crossett and Hamburg Masonic Lodges. He has worked as a policeman, a fireman, and was owner of the Crossett Skating Rink for nine years. He was also owner and operator of Cross Country Trucking. He loved woodworking and working in his yard.

Thelbirt is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Janet Akin; his father, Luther “Jim” Akin; his mother, Vera Akin; two brothers, Gene Akin and Vesper Akin; one sister, Margaret Akin and one daughter, Brenda Dumas.

Survivors include two daughters, Juanita Clark and Gina Akin; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
