Deeanna Moon Obituary

Stephanie Deeanna Moon, 52, of Strong, Arkansas, entered into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.  She was born on October 3, 1968, to Stephen Moon and Martha Moon of Crossett, Arkansas.

Ms. Moon graduated from Crossett High School in 1987, and immediately after graduating high school, knew she was called to serve her beloved country. After enlisting in 1988, Deeanna proudly served her country in the United States Air Force for the next four years. During her enlistment, Deeanna received the medal of Good Conduct, and a National Defense Service Medal, along with a myriad of other awards. Finally in 1992 after her faithful service had ended, Deeanna received an honorable discharge.  Soon after, Deeanna knew her calling once again – she was to become a teacher, and like the rest of her life, Deeanna charged forward knowing God had great plans for her and soon graduated with honors from the University of Arkansas at Monticello in 1996.

Throughout her extensive teaching career, Deeanna was known to her students as a dedicated and beloved English teacher who would do anything to help ensure student success. To make sure she was staying abreast of current Best Practices Teaching Strategies, Deeanna emersed herself in learning Advanced Placement strategies for both AP Language and Composition and AP Literature while attending all learning opportunities awarded her. Deeanna made it her goal to be the best teacher for each student she served. Before blessing her with her beloved current position for the El Dorado School District, Deeanna also touched the lives of students at: Strong, Crossett, Hamburg, Abiding Faith Christian School, Huttig, and Richmond Parish, Louisiana.

From an early age when she grew up in church with her devoted Christian mother at Cloverdale Assembly of God, Deeanna faithfully served her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And like her own mom, Deeanna raised up her three daughters to, likewise, love and serve the Lord with all their hearts, souls, and minds. During her time as a mother, Deeanna made it her daily goal to teach her children to make the Lord their center. After moving to Strong, Deanna became an active member of the First Baptist Church of Strong, where her dear companion, Scotty Guillot, pastors.

Deeanna is preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Gabrielle Hamilton, her maternal and much beloved grandmother Mammie, Callie Denson, her parents, Stephen Moon and Martha Moon and a sister, Carol Joe Moon.

To carry on her legacy, Deeanna is survived by three devoted and loving daughters: Mikayla Dianne Marquez, of Moore, Oklahoma, Callie Esther Hamilton of Crossett, Arkansas and Jami-Lynn Jarvi Hamilton of Crossett, Arkansas; a granddaughter, Zoey Carter, of Moore, Oklahoma; two sisters, Karen Moon Hensley, of Greenbrier, Arkansas, and Dayla Bussell Gwin and husband, Carl John, of Crossett, Arkansas; two brothers, Douglas Denson Bussell and wife Beverly, Dennis Stephen Moon and his companion Tammy Brown, of Crossett; special friend, Scotty Guillot; twenty-four nieces and nephews, and an enormous host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers. Fulfilling Scripture, Deeanna loved and cherished them all dearly:

“Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.”  1 John 4:11 (KJV)
