Betty Jane (Marks) Carpenter, age 83 of Crossett, AR, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020. She was born on August 22, 1936 to Paul Owens and Vera Forbess Marks in Kingsland, AR. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church for over fifty years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, fishing, and going on senior adult trips with her church. She took great delight in spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She took pleasure in cooking and making sure no one left her house hungry.
Mrs. Carpenter is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lorrow Robert and Harold Marks, one sister, Francess McMillan Ferguson and one niece, Lisa McMillan McDonough.
She is survived by her husband of twenty nine years, Clinton F. Carpenter; one son, Keith Eugene Mann (Leiah) of Crossett, AR; three daughters, Barbara Mann Kenny (Joe) of Bastrop, LA, Betty Carolyn Mann Brooks (Bill) of Brenham, TX and Jelyn Hogue (Farris) of Hot Springs Village, AR; nine grandchildren, Sarah Mann Partee, Jonathan, Jason and Christian Brocato, Corbin Brooks, Tyler, Dustin and Allison Pope, and April Scott; ten great grandchildren including one on the way along with a host of other family members and friends.
A celebration of life service will be at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in North Crossett with Bro. Eric Hodge officiating. Interment is in Pinewood Memorial Park following the service. Pallbearers are Flanagan Ricks, Dustin Pope, Arron Jennings, Bobby Jones, Drayton Land and Lane Childress. Honorary Pallbearers are Jonathan Brocato, Jason Brocato, Christian Brocato, Paul McMillan, Rich McDonough and Christopher Partee.
Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Jones Funeral Home, Inc.
