Barbara Smith Obituary

Barbara June Dixon Smith, age 73, of Crossett, AR, passed away at Baptist Health Hospital in Little Rock, AR on December 12, 2020.  She was born on August 17, 1947 to Henry and Dora Dixon.  She graduated Crossett High School in 1965.

Barbara retired from Ashley County Medical Center where she worked as a dietician.  She previously worked at Hamburg Shirt Factory and was a cashier at Jr. Food Mart for many years.  Barbara has served as secretary treasurer of Crossroads Good Neighbor Club and was also a member of Humdinger Birding Club.

She loved quilting, making handcrafts, along with playing card games and board games.  Her favorite to play was “WAHOO”.  Barbara especially enjoyed family gatherings at the “Bunkhouse”, the home-place.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Tommy Smith; two sisters, Faye Dixon and Jewell Crouch and one brother, Robert Dixon.

Those left to cherish her memory include two grandsons, T.J. and Collin Smith, both of Crossett, AR; six sisters, LaVerne Massey of Little Rock, AR, Mildred Bays of Crossett, AR, Betty Kinnison (Bobby) of Jacksonville, AR, Mary Thomas of Memphis, TN, Alice Russell of North Little Rock, AR and Pam Hipp of Crossett, AR; four brothers, Kenneth Dixon (Jeannette) of Millington, TN, Loy Dixon (Sherry) of Crossett, AR, Jimmy Dixon (Rita) of Crossett, AR and Billy Dixon (Sue) of Bethel Heights, AR and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Carlock Cemetery with Bro. Keith Rose officiating.  Pallbearers are Jimmy Dixon, Jeremy Hipp, Freddy Hipp, Jaydon Hipp and Justin Hipp.

Visitation will follow the service at the “Bunkhouse” located at 2526 Ashley 12 W, Crossett, AR  71635.

 

Everyone is asked to observe and follow the safe distancing guidelines by staying six feet apart and wearing a face covering.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
