Alonzo McClellan Vought, age 79, of Crossett, AR, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021. He was born on December 29, 1941 in Monticello, AR to Alonzo McClellan Vought II and Helen Delene Watkins Baty.
Alonzo was of the Baptist faith.
He served his country in the United States Air Force. He served stateside during the Vietnam era as an electrician who worked on planes. Alonzo was a competitive shooter who competed in NRA national matches. He ranked #7 in the United States. Family vacations were centered around his competitions. He was a “master piddler” and loved spending time with his family and his dogs.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jonathan Vought; one brother, “Mac” Vought and his stepmother, Kay Vought.
His memory will forever be cherished by his wife of 52 years, Lynn Vought of Crossett, AR; one son, Marc Vought (Becky) of Hamburg, AR; one daughter, Julie Tillman (Ernie) of El Dorado, AR; five grandchildren, Caden, Karlee, Fisher, Madison and Jackson; two sisters, Anna Elizabeth Ogden and Sheila Glover; his in-laws, who were like brothers and sisters to Alonzo, Diane Barrett, Tina and Barney White, Buddy and Treasa Barrett, Terica and Kevin Kilcrease, Patsy and Dennis Price, Melody and Tony Tankersley along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at North Main Baptist Church in Hamburg, AR with Rev. Robert Davis and Rev. Robert Spicer officiating. Pallbearers are Caden Vought, Fisher Grubb, Jackson Grubb, Keegan Ganaway, Greg Griswould and Brandon Price.
Visitation will be held at the church from 6:00PM until 8:00PM on Monday, August 30, 2021.
Interment is in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Crossett,AR under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
