Services for Kyle Hairston, 82, of Monroe, will be held on Tuesday, December 27th at North Monroe Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Dye officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and the memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA.
Kyle passed away on December 17, 2016. He was born in Hermitage, AR to Jasper Geffery and Lora Langston Hairston and was the youngest of five children. His parents and siblings, Lavern Smith, Dwain Hairston, Nell Alexander and Martell Hairston, his grandson Brady Hairston and son-in-law Bill Doss preceded him in death.
Kyle was the loving husband to the light of his life, Linda Lovett Hairston and an inspiration to his children, Kim Hairston of Crossett, AR, Jeff Hairston and wife Terri, and Lee Hairston of Monroe, LA and Amy Hairston-Doss of Athens, GA.
He was known as “Poppa” to grandsons, Clint Hairston and wife Lara, and Jacob Meade; five grand-daughters, Haley Tillman, Michal Hale and husband Jimmy, Maggie Meade, Molly Meade and Brooke Hairston; two great grandsons Henry Kyle Hairston and Judah Jameson Meade; and a multitude of other family members including many nieces and nephews that adored him.
Kyle was our hero, our role model and a man whom we looked up to and can only dream of becoming. He was a hard-working, family-loving, man of God; a model of quiet strength, steady patience, unending love and perfect understanding. His family was his passion and he was the calm to our storms.
Kyle was kind, generous and had a heart-felt compassion for everyone. He never met a tool he couldn’t master or a project he couldn’t conquer. He was a warrior and the embodiment of the John Wayne spirit, “he is what real men are made of”.
Kyle and his lifelong friend and business partner, Vernon Flemister, started their friendship at age 12 and their careers in contracting at age 25. In their 57 years of partnership, they had many successful businesses; Hairston Bros., RAM, Inc., Eagle Supply, Hafco, Inc., Falcon Equipment and KV Industries. Their hard-working, can-do attitude was contagious to many as they encouraged others to start their own businesses and continue their legacy.
Kyle’s hard working and adventurous attitude began in high school. At that time, he was one of the few Crossett High School athletes to letter in track and field, football and basketball all four of his high school years. As an adult, he enjoyed golfing, snow skiing, flying as a multi-engine private pilot, and traveling across the country in his RV with Linda. He was a member of North Monroe Baptist Church, Western Star Masonic Lodge, and a charter member of Barak Shriners.
Memorials in memory of Kyle can be made to American Heart Association or North Monroe Baptist Church Building Fund.
