Ben Gene Smith

Ben Gene Smith, age 89 of Crossett, AR, died Sunday, January 19, 2020.  He was born on April 30, 1930 in Warren, AR to Ben Carey and Gennie Lou Rogers Smith.  He was a member and Deacon of Pine Forrest Missionary Baptist Church, a Gideon, and a veteran of the United States Air Force.   He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Geraldine Gladys Edwards Smith; four brothers, G.D. Stedman, Lathan Stedman, Kenneth Steadman and Barnard Smith; One sister, Pat Ashcraft and one grandson, Joshua Parrish.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Betty F. Mayo Smith; one daughter, Madonna Henson (Gordon)of McGehee, AR; two sons, Tony Bruton (Gale) of Hockley, TX and Gregory Bruton of Crossett, AR; one sister, Marilyn Ashcraft of Warren, AR; seven grandchildren, Kate Zieske, Sarah Blevins, Alisha Parrish, James Williams, Lindsey McClellan, Alicia Herren and Scotty Bruton; thirteen great grandchildren, David Zieske, Paul Zieske, Katie Rose Henson, Ben Joslin, Lindsey Bliss Henson, Ethan Parrish, Anthony Parrish, Noah Parrish, Bailey McClellan, Jaxon McClellan, Tripp Simmons, Tristen Meredith and Sydnie Meredith and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Pleasant Lane Baptist Church in North Crossett with Bro. Ken McEachern and Bro. Willie Thornhill officiating.  Pallbearers are Mark Mayo, Neal Zieske, Aaron Blevins, James Williams, Jerry Ashcraft and Mike Ashcraft.  Interment is in Outlaw Cemetery in Hermitage, AR under the direction of Jones Funeral Home, Inc.

 Visitation is from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Jones Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, January 23, 2020.
