Harold Farmer, age 87, of Crossett, AR, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at UAMS in Little Rock, AR.  He was born on February 29, 1928 in Crossett Camp, AR to his parents, Guy and Miriam McDuffie Farmer.  Mr. Farmer served in the Navy.  Harold was drafted and did boot camp in San Diego.  His job in Kwajalein Atoll was being over water distribution for personnel on the islands which gave him and his buddy many benefits including better food and all access to the islands.  He was involved in the recovery of ships for nuclear bomb testing and also was recalled from paper mill to train troops on LST landing craft for invasion of Korea.  When orders came to go home he flew on a plane with an admiral solely by chance and said the food was great on board and plane lavishly furnished.  Mr. Farmer retired from Georgia Pacific after 42 years where he was a Shipping Clerk for #1 mill.  He was an avid fisherman and cabinet maker.  Harold lived to serve the Lord.  He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where he was an active Deacon, a longtime Sunday school teacher and church leader.  Mr. Farmer was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife in 1991, Maxine Jobe Farmer and his second wife in 2014, Lois Dickerson Farmer; two brothers, Victor Farmer, John Alva Farmer; one sister, Violet Katherine Germany; one granddaughter, Amanda Paige Kelley and one great-grandson, Karston Lloyd Steelman.    

Survivors include two sons, Clyde Farmer (Debbie) of Crossett, AR, Lloyd Farmer (Betty) of Johannesburg, South Africa; one daughter, Joyce Kelley (Phillip) of Crossett, AR; three step-sons, Steve Dickerson (Mary Ann) of Seymour, MO, David Dickerson (Shelia) of Crossett, AR and Randall Dickerson (Cherrie) of W. Monroe, LA;  one brother, Glynn Farmer of Bastrop, LA; one sister, Merle Pierce of Crossett, AR; seven grandchildren, Brian Keith Farmer (Tammy), Hester Jean Hickman (Robert), Lane Kelley (Jessikah), Rachel Allison Farmer, Dr. Lydia Marie Steelman (Clay), Hannah Michelle Whitman (Adam), Julia Ann Armstrong (Ben); a host of step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces , nephews and other relatives

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Mount Olive Baptist Church with Bro. Eric Hodge, Bro. Lloyd Farmer and Bro. Don Justice officiating.  Interment will follow at Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, AR.  (www.jonesservice.com)
