Dorothy Marie Miller Orr was born July 3, 1928 in Crossett, Arkansas to William Edgar and Annie Belle Miller.  She died August 16, 2015 after a courageous battle with colon and breast cancer.  She was 87.

 

She worked in the Health care field for over forty years.  She held positions as Office Nurse for Drs Reigner and Harville, Ward Clerk and Nurse’s Aide for the Crossett Health Center.  She also worked as Office Manager and nurse for Dr. Ensign in Silsbee, Texas.  She retired from the position of Certified Respiratory Tech for the Crossett Health Center in 1990.

 

She married Aubrey Orr on February 23, 1946 in Bastrop Louisiana.  They lived most of their sixty years together in Crossett, Arkansas.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Aubrey Orr, parents, William and Annie Belle Miller: Five Sisters: Vera Stevens, Estelle Smith, Sudie Hughes, Allene Robinson and Ruth Jackson:  Four Brothers: Infant son that died at birth, Edward Miller, Carl Miller and John Allen Miller.

 

She is survived by her daughter Linda Brooks and husband Gary of Shreveport, LA, her son Mark Orr and wife Shelley of Crossett, AR, two granddaughters, Gina Martinez and husband David of Shreveport, LA, Holley McBroom of Denver, Colorado, one grandson, Lee Orr of Crossett, AR, one great granddaughter Katherine Martinez and one great grandson, Craig Beilby both of Shreveport, LA and many beloved nieces and nephews.

 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 18, 2015 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.

 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 19, 2015 at 2:00pm at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kevin McDaniel officiating.  Burial to follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Crossett, Arkansas under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, AR. (www.jonesservice.com)

She spent her life taking care of others.  She was fun, kind and as one of her nieces described her, she was soothing to your soul.  She was loved by all who knew her.  She will be greatly missed by her immediate and extended family.

Heaven just received a very special angel.

 

The family would like to thank Dr. Andy Gresham for his care through the years and the Hospice Care Team, and to all of the staff at the Pillars that were so kind, caring and accommodating to her and us as we cared for our Mother.  May God Bless you all!
