Danny Joe Herndon, 68, of Crossett, Arkansas passed away peacefully at home Monday, December 19, 2016. Danny was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and never lost his affinity for the New Orleans Saints.

Danny served in the U.S. Army as a combat medic in the Vietnam War, whose valor and heroic actions earned him the Bronze Star as well as the Purple Heart.  Danny later became a registered nurse and enjoyed retirement later in his life.  Danny loved riding motorcycles and staying active with multiple veterans groups. 

Danny was predeceased by his parents David James and Dorothy Elizabeth Walton Herndon and his brother Douglas.  Danny is survived by his children, William A. Herndon of New Jersey and his daughter Sara N. Schunk, also of New Jersey.  Danny is also survived by his granddaughter Brynn A. Schunk, his beloved dog Oreo and many close friends.

A memorial in remembrance of Danny's life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are being handled by Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, AR.
