Mr. Andrew E. White (also known as Uncle Ed) passed away on August 19, 2017 at his residence.  He was born on April 1, 1926 in Portland, AR to his parents, Juddy and Hattie Brady White. 

Uncle Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Carpenter White; his parents; three brothers, George, Harvell and Harold White and two sisters, Lobelia Foy and Dorothy Yoder.

Mr. White was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy.  He volunteered in 1944 and served until 1946 with the combat aircraft unit.  His unit went on to secure Guam making it their home base.  He received the presidential citation award and several other medals.

He joined the Masons in 1957.  Mr. White was a member of Crossett Lodge 576 where he received many awards and honors, including the thirty third degree, the highest degree in Masonry.  The highlight of his Masonry was presenting The Holy Bible to a new Mason.

Mr. White was a Shriner and member of the Eastern Star in Crossett Chapter 303, Margaret Chapter 151 of Hamburg and the Ashley County 32nd degree club.  He served as Chaplain in each of these for many years.

He was ordained as a Deacon in 1961 at Allendale Baptist Church in Houston, TX and served for some 20 years before returning to Arkansas.  Mr. White was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee.

His is survived by a son, Ronald D. White of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Mary Willkens of Grapeland, TX and Mildred Carpenter of Booneville, AR.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on August 22, 2017 at First Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Dan Bonnette and Bro. Carlton White officiating.  Interment will follow at Promise Land Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, AR.  (www.jonesservice.com)

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at First Freewill Baptist Church.
